Colors To Layers

Color to Layers is an Aseprite Extension that makes it easy to apply colors to your layers.

You can paint a single layer, groups of layers, or even select multiple layers at once. The extension comes with predefined colors, but you can also add new ones, edit, or delete your colors.

Want to change a layer's color? You can also clear the applied color and revert to the default theme color.

How To Install

1. Download the file here.
2. Execute the .aseprite-extension and install that.
3. Restart the Aseprite to use this plugin.

Requirements

A sprite must be open to use this extension. If no sprite is open, you will not be able to access the menu to use the extension. 

How to use

Color to Layers can be accessed by right-clicking on any layer, which will bring up the "Paint Color" menu.

The menu offers many options:

1,1. Default Colors 
There are 7 predefined colors available for immediate use.
If you don't want to save new colors, you can simply use these.

1.2. Saved Colors 

This section displays the colors you’ve previously saved and want to reuse.
1.3. Clean Color
This option clears any custom color applied. You can use it to reset the color of single layers, groups, or selected layers.

The second part of the menu:


2.1 Show All Colors
Here, you can view details about both Default Colors and Saved Colors. Clicking on a color reveals its name and HEX code.

If you’ve saved a color, the Change Color and Remove Color buttons will become available.

• Change Color lets you replace the current saved color with a new one.
• Remove Color deletes the selected saved color.

2.2 Save new Color
You can save a new color here. Just ensure the color is in HEX format and give it a name


The last part of the extension, there are the automation:

In the final section, you can automate actions. You can choose to automatically paint group layers and their contents or clear them. If you don't select this option, the extension will prompt you each time for what action you'd like to take.
